SMPT was started in 1991 in about 12 Acres with about 100 Labours and 4032 Nos of spindles in the tBackward Village of Iyeppedu Village, Sholinghur, Vellore District.

Today it has grown in size. The number of Spindles as on dated is 26352. It provides Direct Employment to about 250 Labours both Male and Female apart from providing in Direct Employment to about 500 persons.
